Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:52 AM Thursday to a fire in the kitchen at Jewel-Osco, 423 East Dundee Road Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that flames were showing in the kitchen at the Jewel-Osco store at Dundee Road and Hicks Road.
Firefighters arrived at the store within two minutes, and reported a fire confined to a rotisserie unit in the kitchen. The fire was reported contained by 10:40 a.m.
Firefighters reported no evacuation was necessary (NOTE: Readers should base decisions to evacuate on information at the scene).
The health department was called to the scene to inspect the kitchen because an ANSUL extinguisher activated near the fire.
Firefighters brought in a portable fire extinguisher to completely stop the fire.
