Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:31 PM Sunday to a report of a noxious spray released at Kohl’s, 171 North Barrington Road Schaumburg, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a spray was released in the Juniors fitting room, and was causing difficulty with breathing and coughing.
Firefighters are masking up and investigating. Paramedics are working to evaluate people affected by the spray.
The incident has been classified a Hazmat Level I. The noxious spray is possibly Mace, pepper spray or similar agent.
Extra firefighters were called to the scene to work on ventilation to clear the building.
Initially two patients were evaluated. An additional ambulance was dispatched at 7:55 p.m. A third ambulance was dispatched at 7:56 p.m. for a fourth patient.
A fourth ambulance was dispatched at 8:13 p.m.
There were five medical release and one patient transported to St. Alexius in Hoffman Estates.
