Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 9:18 PM Thursday to a report of smoke or an irritant at Condo/Apartments at 920 Ridge Square Elk Grove Village, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that people were exposed to something that irritated the back of their throats and caused them to cough.
Elk Grove Village Fire Department responded with their HazMat trailer and several HazMat technicians. Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics responded with a rescue ambulance.
All within a few minutes Elk Grove Village Fire Department was called to respond to a rollover crash with one woman seriously injured at Oakton and Busse, an activated fire alarm at a commercial building, an ambulance call, and a stove fire at a residence.
Elk Grove Township firefighters and Schaumburg firefighters respond to assist the fire alarm and the stove fire.
The pepper spray incident marks the third incident in Chicago suburbs that affected multiple people in the past month. Schaumburg firefighters had a pepper spray incident at a Target store, and Gurnee firefighters responded to an incident at a Gurnee Mills.
