Chicago firefighters and paramedics responded during the overnight morning hours Monday to an emergency childbirth call, but the baby was already delivered before they arrived.
Javier Sanchez was driving his wife, Maria Estrada, to the hospital, when her contractions kept getting stronger, and she told him the baby wasn’t going to wait, so Sanchez pulled off the Eisenhower at the Austin exit.
Chicago Fire Department paramedics transported the mother and baby to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where they were both in good condition. Camela weighed a little more than 8 pounds.
