Chicago police, Metra police and Chicago firefighters and paramedics responded about 5:30 p.m. Monday to a report that a person was hit by a train on the Metra Electric Line train on the South Side
Metra initially reported that a child was killed after being struck by the train, but later it was determined that a man in his mid-to-late 20s was killed.
The accident happened on the Metra Electric Line tracks in the Rosemoor neighborhood at 9990 South Cottage Grove.
The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. and involved the southbound Metra Electric Line Train #705. Train #705 left the Millenium Park station and was due at University Park at 5:55 p.m.
