UPDATE: A Wauconda man was crossing Rand Road from the parking lot of the former Menard’s store to the south side of Rand Road at 7:45 a.m. when a 2007 GMC Denali traveling southeast hit him. The Denali was driven by a 68-year-old man. No tickets were issued, but the crash is still under investigation.
Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:45 AM Thursday to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Rand Road in front of 1914 North Rand Road Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a person was down in front of the address.
Police immediately shut down southbound lanes between Hicks Road and Dundee Road.
First firefighter/paramedics on the scene from Ambulance 82 reported the victim and the vehicle at the scene upon arrival.
The victim was transported Advanced Life Support with extra paramedics on board the ambulance to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
A police accident investigation by the multijurisdictional Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was underway Thursday morning and the southbound lanes of Rand Road near the scene were still blocked at 10:45 a.m.
