Skokie police responded to a report of an attempted child abduction that occurred about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday as a 13-year-old girl was walking from Old Orchard Junior High to Niles North High School. She was approached by a man in a parking lot in the 4800 block of Golf Road
The girl was able to escape after she hit the offender with a string of padlocks while he tried to pull her into a crossover SUV. The girl reported that the offender had asked her direction to a nearby restaurant.

When he tried to pull her toward his SUV, the girl pulled out a “few metal padlocks on a string” and hit the man in the jaw, according to Skokie police.
OFFENDER DESCRIPTION
The offender was described as a male/Hispanic, 30 years-old, about 5’9″ inches and heavyset, black hair, and was wearing a two-toned blue jacket, blue jeans and brown boots. The girl reported the man was missing two fingers on his right hand and that he spoke with an accent.
Skokie police urge citizens with information about this incident or suspect to contact Skokie police at 847-982-5900.
As of 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 22, 2014 10:00 a.m. (about 42:40 hours:minutes after the crime occurred) there was no mention of the incident on Skokie Police Department’s official Facebook page or their Official Skokie Public Safety Bulletin page on the Village of Skokie official website.
