Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:19 AM Thursday to a house fire in the block of 400 Woods Road Des Plaines , IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that white smoke was visible behind the house.
The first fire crew from North Maine Engine 1 reported flames showing from the front of the house at about 9:00 a.m.
The fire was extinguished by 9:24 a.m. and a search of the home discovered a victim found dead inside the home.
Firefighters continued searching the home for the possibility that a caretaker was also inside the house — a two-story single family home.
Developing … no details have been confirmed about the victim or the identification of the victim.
Firefighters from Arlington Heights, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect, and North Maine assisted Des Plaines firefighters.
Des Plaines firefighter/paramedics also responded to an extrication crash at Oakton Street and Wolf Road that was reported about 10 minutes after the house fire. Firefighters/paramedics from Elk Grove Township, Glenview, and Rosemont assisted Des Plaines firefighter at the crash scene.
