VIDEO/NO AUDIO: Firefighters are battling a multi-alarm fire that has severely damaged a northern New Jersey apartment building. Authorities say it appears that everyone in the building was able to get out safely.
Edgewater, New Jersey firefighters responded about 4:30 p.m. to an extra alarm apartment fire at the Avalon Edgewater complex at 102 Russell Ave. in Edgewater.
The fire alarm was elevated to at least five alarms. Parts of the large building have collapsed. No injuries were reported as of 7:00 p.m. ET.
Large flames were visible from miles away across the Hudson River.
Several fire departments have been called in for mutual aid, including Hackensack, Fort Lee and Englewood. Bergen County Office of Emergency Management was also on the scene.
The fire was not declared under under control as of 7:30 p.m. ET.
