Police, friends and family are concerned about 30-year-old Dan Nerstrom, who has been missing since December 1, 2014. Nerstrom is believed to have left his Libertyville home on foot. He left his car behind, but his handgun is missing.
Libertyville Police say he’s not a danger to anyone else, but he might be a danger to himself.
A Facebook page, “Bring Home Dan Nerstrom” and a GoFundMe page has been set up toward his safe return and to get medical help when he returns. There’s a Facebook page showing pictures of Nerstrom in his uniform, in fatigues, and with his loved ones.

His family says he suffered war-related injuries, including brain trauma, and emotional stress. Nerstrom served in Iraq from 2005 to 2006. He was a highly-trained scout and was medically retired from the military.
Police have been out searching Nerstrom’s favorite forest preserve, and other locations, and have used dogs the past 11 days.
Authorities are also combing through his financial history for any clues that might aid in their search.
All inquiries on his Facebook page are being directed to the Libertyville Police for addition to the missing person’s investigation. Citizens with information are urged to call Libertyville Police Department 847-362-8310.
