Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 2:23 AM Monday to a report of a crash with entrapment at Dundee Road and and Ridge Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that at least one person was trapped in a vehicle involved in a crash. Police received a report that a 72-year-old man was trapped in his car and that the driver of the other car ran from the scene.

A Ford Focus apparently headed northbound on Ridge Avenue struck a silver sedan headed apparently headed westbound on Dundee Road. The silver sedan was driven by the 72-year-old male, and the blue Ford Focus was driven by the driver that fled the scene.

Arlington Heights police found the driver of the Ford Focus north of the crash scene by about 2:53 a.m. and called for a second ambulance.

Both drivers are believed to have been transported to Northwest Community Hospital, but the hospital information has not been confirmed.

The Ford Focus hit and destroyed a traffic signal and came to rest at the northwest corner of Dundee Road and Ridge Avenue. The silver sedan came to rest about two feet from the Portillo’s restaurant drive-thru area after hitting a brick-enclosed dumpster area.

There are possibly DUI charges on this call,but all charges, including possible “leaving the scene of accident” charges are pending.
