CNN’s Indra Petersons reports that a nor’easter is expected to pour heavy rain or snow during the Thanksgiving holiday week.

New York City is under a Winter Weather Advisory, but areas north and west of New York City are under a Winter Storm Warning.

TODAY Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 5pm. Temperature falling to around 33 by 2pm. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Breezy, with a north wind 14 to 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tonight Rain and snow before 1am, then a slight chance of rain between 1am and 3am. Low around 32. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a northwest wind 18 to 23 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thanksgiving Day A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 2pm, then a slight chance of rain showers between 2pm and 5pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers after 5pm. A storm will pound the East Coast, causing delays of up to six hours on the busiest travel period of the year.
