Naperville police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:15 p.m. Sunday to a car-pedestrian incident at Book Road and Rickert Drive. A resident of Naperville was walking her dog and crossing the street when she was struck by the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu.
The woman was transported to Edward Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police report that the pedestrian was identified as Emily S. Driscoll. She was crossing the street at the intersection of Book Road and Rickert Drive around 8:15 p.m. when she was struck by a car driven eastbound on Rickert Drive by Kenneth E. Holmberg, a 74-year-old Plainfield man driving the 2001 Chevrolet Malibu.
Driscoll’s dog was also killed.
Ricker Drive is curved at the intersection, which has a traffic signal. The speed limit on Ricker Drive is 40 mph.
No citations have been issued in connection with the incident, and the case is under investigation. Naperville police urge any citizens with information to call 630-305-5379 or email [email protected].
