What to expect from Apple’s media event
Apple iPhone 6
Apple will announce two flagship phones: a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch, both significantly bigger than the current 4-inch screen, and finally catching up with larger Samsung models. The 5.5-inch “phablet” (phone + tablet) is rumored to feature a one-handed mode option. Of course, it is expected to be faster than existing phones. An improved camera is also rumored.
Mobile Payments or Mobile Wallet Technology
Something known as NFC (Near Field Communications), expected to be included in the new iPhone 6, may catalyze the use of a smartphone for purchases. Apple’s advantage includes the 800 million subscribers already enlisted on Apple iTunes. The disadvantage is the recent embarrassing iCloud security breach that Apple says is not their fault.
iWatch
Wearable technology in the form of an Apple iWatch is rumored to be integrated with the HealthKit app, which is proclaimed to track heart rate, blood pressure and other stats. The iWatch expected to be about $400, won’t be available until 2015.
