Bystanders didn’t hesitate to get into a river and team up to turn over a flipped SUV with 3 teens inside.
About 12 people, who witnessed a crash or the immediate aftermath of a crash in Salt Lake City, Utah, responded to Thursday night to rescue teens in a rollover SUV crash that caused the SUV to land upside down submerged in the Jordan River in Salt Lake City. A couple initially ran down and rescued two of the teens, but the third teen, who was seriously injured, was still trapped.
The group stabilized the victim as they rolled the SUV upright, but they couldn’t get the doors open to get the last teen out of the SUV. Once upright, the teen’s head was above water. Before the SUV was flipped, the teen was underwater for about five or six minutes. Firefighters arrived and extricated the victim. All three teens were transported to local hospital(s).
