The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch effective until 8:00 p.m. CDT. Radar indicates thunderstorms developing along a line from Racine, Wisconsin to Mendota, Illinois — crossing about half way between Rockford and Elgin. Additional thunderstorms may develop throughout the afternoon and evening.
Severe thunderstorms could reach Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs of Chicago by about 2:45 p.m.
