UPDATE: Dundee Road was re-opened in both directions about 12:25 p.m.
Wheeling police and Wheelng and Prospect Heights firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:17 AM Wednesday to a report of crash with multiple injuries at Dundee Road and Portwine Road Wheeling, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a dump truck rolled over in a crash involving three vehicles.
First firefighters on the scene reported a dump truck on its side. At least three people reported injured.
Apparently, the dump truck was westbound on Dundee Road and hit an SUV that pulled out on Portwine Road. The dump truck rolled over and came to rest in the shoulder of the eastbound lanes of Dundee Road. A load of dirt was spilled on the ground.
Dundee Road was closed in both directions and may be closed for an extended period because of a prolonged accident investigation. Westbound Dundee Road was opened to the intersection with Portwine with all vehicles forced to turn northbound on Portwine Road. Milwaukee Road motorists experienced heavy congestion.
At least one male adult was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
Northbrook firefighters also responded to the crash.
I-290 to North Avenue Rollover …
The rollover crash was the second crash this morning involving a truck rollover. Another truck rollover occurred at the I-290 off-ramp to North Avenue before 7:00 a.m. This truck crash spilled sheet metal on the ground.
