Judge Masipa says the state has not proven that Oscar Pistorius is guilty of premeditated murder.
Oscar Pistorius cannot be found guilty of intentionally killing Reeva Steenkamp, said Judge Thokozile Masipa in his trial Thursday. The judge has not issued a verdict, and the proceedings continue with the possibility that Pistorius could be found guilty of lesser charges, including culpable homicide.
The judge has discarded all witness accounts, and declared that Pistorius is the only surviving witness. Pistorius claimed that he fired his weapon when he heard a sound in the toilet, believing an intruder or intruders were coming out to attack him, and saying he believed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp was in bed.
The Pistorius case started six month ago — beginning on March 3, 2014. Model Reeva Steenkamp, his girlfriend was shot three times while she was in the bathroom of his home in Pretoria, South Africa in the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2013. Four shots were fired through a bathroom door into the bathroom. Pistorius was arrested and charged with murder on February 15, 2013.
