Chicago firefighters, police and paramedics responded about 3:25 PM Thursday to a fire in a warehouse at 3909 W Harrison St, Chicago , IL. Police, firefighter and paramedics responded to a large fire at a warehouse just south of the Eisenhower Expressway.
Eastbound and westbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway has stopped in the area due to heavy smoke. Smoke can be seen for miles. Wind is from the southeast and blowing across the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) causing hazardous traffic conditions in both directions. Much of the smoke is vertical, however near the expressway.
Propane tanks are exploding on the scene as late as 4:00 p.m. over 30 minutes into the fire.

The fire department response was elevated to a 3-11 alarm at about 3:49 p.m.
