With a Flash Flood Watch in effect, Chicagoland weather radar shows a very large area of rain and thunderstorms from Wasau, Wisconsin to Springfield, Illinois moving ENE. The leading edge is approaching Rockford and Interstate 39 at about 10:30 p.m. The area of rain extends to a trailing edge at Omaha, Nebraska and Kansas City, Missouri. Flash Flood Watches touch eight states: Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Upper Michigan, and Indiana.
In Arlington Heights and the northwest suburbs, heavy rain is forecast to begin about 1:00 a.m. and continue until noon Wednesday with almost 2 inches of rain falling between 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:00 p.m. Wednesday.
