Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:49 AM Monday to a report of a fire and explosion near Busse Road and Dempter 1650 West Dempster Street Mount Prospect, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of an explosion and fire from multiple callers.
First firefighters on the scene on the crew of Mount Prospect Engine 12 reported smoldering at the ComEd substation at 1650 West Dempster Street. The fire was out prior to arrival of firefighters.
Firefighters reported a transfer switch burning and were waiting for Com Ed to respond.

Firefighters from Arlington Heights and Elk Grove Township immediately responded, but were immediately ordered returned.
Only five customers are reported affected in the area, according to the ComEd outage map.
