A police officer was shot in the arm in Ferguson, Missouri, Saturday night after encountering two men at a community center.
A police officer was checking the Ferguson Community Center at 1050 Smith Avenue about 9:20 p.m. Saturday when he encountered two male subjects who ran from him. When the officer was in close range, at least one of the subjects shot at the officer, who blocked the bullet with his arm and was injured in the arm.
The police officer returned fire. Police have no evidence or signs that either of the subjects were hit by gunfire. Both subjects are at large.
Police said they do not think the incident was related to recent protests of the Mike Brown police-involved fatal shooting. The police officer approached the two subjects because they were on the property while the community center was closed.
