Palatine police responded about 10:30 p.m. Thursday to a report of fight in progress outside an apartment building in the 1900 block of North Green Lane North.
First police officers on the scene saw two females walking in the courtyard with “obvious signs” of being in the fight, including clothing in disarray with blood on their shirts, police said.

When a police officer approached the two females to investigate, he was pushed by the older of the two females, who was later identified as Joanna Gutierrez. The two tried to run away, and the younger female — an unidentified 16-year-old — pushed the police officer as he tried to detain Guiterrez. Also, Gutierrez scratched the officer in the neck and arms, police said.
Police called for back but Gutierrez allegedly kicked at the officers, and then kicked a police officer in the face. The police officer was transported by Palatine firefighter/paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights about 10:40 p.m. He was treated overnight and released Friday morning.
Joanna Gutierrez, 19, who resides in an apartment at 730 Rand Grove in Palatine, was charged with felony aggravated battery to a police officer, misdemeanor battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to Palatine police. Gutierrez was held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to be back in court on September 18, according to police.
The 16-year-old female was released to the custody of her father. Police are seeking battery charges with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s in juvenile court.
Police are also seeking charges for others involved in the 15-person fight.
