UPDATE: Hit-and-Run Ford Expedition Driver Apprehended After Crash on Rand Rd Just East of Kennicott Ave, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:33 AM Thursday to a hit-and-run crash involving a motorcycle on Rand Road in front of Mug’s Pizza, 807 West Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a motorcyclist was hit by a “truck” and that he was still down and not moving.

First firefighter/paramedics on the scene reported a motorcyclist down, but moving.

Police immediately shut down Rand Road in both directions, and discovered that the crash was a hit-and-run crash.

Multiple witnesses supplied a partial license plate, and described a Ford Expedition — possibly an older 1998 model — was involved in the crash. One witness followed the vehicle eastbound to Thomas Street and reported that the driver of the large SUV went through red lights at Arlington Heights Road, Palatine Road and Thomas Street.

The victim was treated for a short time at the scene, and rushed to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Police are investigating the hit-and-run vehicle description leads, and were working on an Accident Investigation operation at the scene well past midnight.
