Elk Grove Village police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:11 AM Monday to a report of a truck fire on a power line across the street from 1060 Thorndale Ave Elk Grove Village, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a dump truck was on fire and on top of a live power line. Rescuers also received a report that no one was inside the dump truck.
Police confirmed the truck was on top of a power line, and was on the Wood Dale side (eastbound side) of Thorndale Avenue.
Elk Grove Truck 7 crew arrived to find a fully-involved dump truck on fire and off the road.
Wood Dale and Itasca firefighters also responded to the scene.
Com Ed arrived about 11:43 a.m. According to the ComEd Power Outage map, about 296 ComEd customers are without power in the area.
There was still a small amount of fire on the rear wheels of the trailer. Firefighters were hampered applying direct water on the fire because of the live power line.
