Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:48 AM Friday to an activated alarm at a ComEd substation, 1705 Pratt Street Des Plaines, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of an activated alarm at the ComEd substation on Pratt Street.
A witness in the area heard a “transformer like” noise about the time of the activated alarm.
Many burglar alarms and fire alarms flipped to the trouble position during the electrical problem.
ComEd reports 813 customers were without power at about 6:45 a.m. Friday near Devon Avenue and River Road.
ComEd reported about 201 customers were without power at about 6:45 a.m. near Bryn Mawr Avenue and Pearl Street.
ComEd reported about 478 customers were without power at about 6:45 a.m. near the Allstate Arena at Touhy Avenue and Mannheim Road.
ComEd reported about 130 customers were without power at about 6:45 a.m. near Touhy Avenue, just north of O’Hare International Airport.
ComEd reported about 30 customers were without power at about 7:00 a.m. near the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
ComEd reported power restoration was expected by about 7:45 a.m. For about 5 customers closest to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, the restoration time was expected at about 10:15 a.m.
