Mount Prospect Trustees Tuesday night approved two outlots at Mount Prospect Plaza at Rand Road and Central Road that would add about 12,000 square feet to the existing 423,354 square feet. One multi-tenant building is planned for a location just northeast of the Chase Bank near the entrance at Mount Prospect Road. The other building, which will include a drive-thru, is planned along Rand Road just east of Mount Prospect Road between Chase Bank and Panda Express.
In the proposal by Ramco-Gershenson Properties of Farmington, Michigan, both buildings are planned for construction in the same time period, and are scheduled for completion by late-2015.
Current stores and businesses in the area include Aldi, LA Fitness, Marshalls, Ross Dress for Less, Walgreens, Wal-Mart.
Current outlots include a Charter One Bank, a Chase Bank, and a small strip mall building with a Batteries Plus, El Famous Burrito, Jimmy John’s and Panda Express.
The shopping center was built in 1962 and renovated in 2013. There are 1504 parking spaces in the lots at Mount Prospect Plaza according to Ramco-Gershenson’s website.
Residential neighbors are concerned about increased noise and traffic.
