UDPDATE: After inquiry with Arlington Heights Fire Department it was discovered that the horse chewed through wires that were related to the fire alarm system at the Arlington International racecourse barn.
Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics and Rolling Meadows firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:45 PM Monday to an activated fire alarm at Arlington International racetrack 2200 West Euclid Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of an activated fire alarm at Barn 22. An investigative fire crew in the barn area discovered that a horse chewed through wires that activated the fire alarm in the barn.
No problem or hazards were found in Barn 22 area. Maintenance will be working on the alarm and Engine 2’s crew was available after the determination of the cause of the activated alarm.
