Skokie police and Evanston police responded about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a shooting at Oakton Street and McCormick Boulevard. Evanston firefighter/paramedics responded to St. Francis Hospital after a report that the victim was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle. Early report was that the victim drove himself to St. Francis Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest. Other reports indicate another person drove him to the hospital in a private vehicle riddled with bullet holes.
Witnesses reported the offending motorcyclist waved his gun at other motorists before fleeing the scene. He is reported to have fled south on McCormick Boulevard to Howard Street, then west on Howard Street to Skokie Boulevard. He was last seen by witness traveling southbound on Skokie Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
The motorcyclist was described as a male wearing all black — possibly driving a blue motorcycle.
The intersection of Oakton Street and McCormick Boulevard is blocked with Skokie police and Evanston police on the scene.
The victim’s vehicle was discovered at St. Francis Hospital with multiple bullet holes in the vehicle.
Area police were notified of a homicide in Skokie near Oakton Street and McCormick Boulevard at about 11:03 AM. The shooting is possibly gang-related.
97 Skokie buses are temporarily rerouted via Howard, Crawford, and Oakton.
