Car crash into tree, street light and planter on Arlington Heights Rd near Alt Thai and Panera Bread, just south of Northwest Highway.
Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:03 PM Friday to 40 S Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report of a car fire, and then a crash near Panera Bread. There was no car fire.
Police arrived first and discovered a Toyota sedan, knocked down a tree, a street light, and then hit a planter in front of Alt Thai. The driver was injured, but was able to get out of the car with the help of a bystander.
The driver of the car was transported to Northwest Community Hospital. Witnesses report he drove northbound while bouncing off the southbound curb and then eventually crossed on to the sidewalk on the southbound side of Arlington Heights Road.
A tire mark on the curb before the crash showed the vhicle was up on the curb and/sidewalk for almost 40 yards before being stopped by the crash into the brick planter.
