Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:27 PM Monday to a HazMat Level I incident at Schaumburg High School, 1100 West Schaumburg Road Schaumburg, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a chemical spill occurred in a lab at Schaumburg High School.
The chemical was possibly a formaldehyde-related chemical, but this is an early report that is not confirmed.
Two injuries are reported — described as very minor at at about 1:47 p.m. Later about 15 or 16 students complained of headaches and a second ambulance was called to the scene. Operations appear to be precautionary at this time, but about 16 students are being evaluated by paramedics.
Cleanup is in progress at about 2:10 p.m. and should be completed in a short time.

The Village of Schaumburg Police Department reported by about 1:47 p.m. that no evacuations were underway, that the spill was a minor accidental spill, and that all students and faculty are safe.
