Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:02 PM Tuesday to a report of a roof fire at Graphic Packaging, 1228 Tower Road Schaumburg, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that roofers had previously been working on the roof and that smoke was coming into the interior of the building. The roof workers were not longer on scene.
Firefighters reported no visible smoke from the outside, but inside reported smoke and the smell of something burning.
Firefighters located the fire by about 6:10 p.m. and opened up the roof from above and below to extinguish the fire
The battalion chief went to work with crews from two ladder trucks, three fire engines, and two ambulances. The fire was immediately under control, and a ladder truck, an engine and ambulance were placed back in service by about 6:26 PM.
