April 11 (Bloomberg) — Szabolcs Marka is an astrophysicist at Columbia University. But he no longer studies black holes and dark matter — these days he runs a mosquito farm. With a million dollars in funding from the Gates Foundation, he is developing a new kind of mosquito net using solar energy and infrared light. He hopes that one day this “space age” technology could help eradicate malaria altogether.
