A Palatine man, Jordan T. Nichols, age 31, was sentenced to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty in January to aggravated battery of a police officer during a domestic disturbance that occurred in November 2013. Nichols received credit for 102 days already in custody. Nichols must serve at least 50 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Jordan T. Nichols, then age 30, of Palatine, was charged with aggravated battery, endangering the life of a child and resisting a police officer just after midnight Sunday November 17, 2013. Police say Jordan T. Nichols arrived home intoxicated and argued with a babysitter — striking her in the head. The aggravated battery occurred after she refused to leave the 6-week-old in Nichols’ care.
As Palatine police officers attempted to take Nichols into custody, he fought the police and head-butted one police officer — breaking his nose. He and the police officer were transported to Northwest Community Hospital by Palatine Fire Department firefighter/paramedics where they were treated and released.
Nichols was held on $35,000 bond.
