VIDEO: DUI crash at Dundee Road and Ridge Avenue — not part of the St. Patrick’s Day holiday traffic enforcement, but occurred during the same weekend. The white Toyota Camry is possibly the victim’s vehicle, which was hit by another driver/vehicle — a smaller silver or tan Toyota. Police would not confirm which vehicle was occupied by the alleged DUI driver.
The Arlington Heights Police Department recently completed enforcement activities relating to the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) designated St. Patrick’s Day Holiday Enforcement Campaign. The campaign began March 13, 2014 and ended March 17, 2014. During the campaign, one joint roadside safety checkpoint was conducted in Arlington Heights with Elk Grove PD, along with several hours of roving saturation patrol. The primary focus was to identify and apprehend motorists who chose to drive while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, without using their safety belts, or were committing licensing, equipment or other miscellaneous Illinois Vehicle Code traffic violations.
Enforcement activities resulted in the following cumulative arrests and citations:
1 = DUI
3 = Drug-Related Offenses
3 = Warrant Arrests
2 = Suspended Driver’s Licenses
8 = Unlicensed Driving
8 = Uninsured Motorists
6 = Seat Belt Violations
46 = Other Miscellaneous Traffic Violations
The Arlington Heights Police Department is committed to traffic safety and will continue to be an active participant in IDOT’s grant program by participating in the upcoming “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” holiday enforcement campaigns for Memorial Day.
