Bill Evans has been a career law enforcement officer for the past two decades – the only campaigning candidate to have held command positions including SWAT, gang crimes and currently as a Lieutenant for the Cook County Sheriff’s police. He has worked the streets of Cook County for the past 23 years and understands the culture and the needs, both in the field and in the office.
Evans decided to run for office because he became concerned with the dangerous understaffing conditions at the jail, the deteriorating morale amongst the personnel and the lack of effective leadership and necessary resources needed to enforce the law in our jail, our patrols and in the courts.
Evans has been endorsed by a group of Cook County Clergy, the Chicago FOP, the International Tactical Officers Association and the Advanced SWAT organization.
Evans also visited unincorporated Arlington Heights which included an interview with The Cardinal — Arlingtoncardinal.com on June 8, 2014. Evans is concerned that the large amount of violent crime in the City of Chicago could migrate out into the suburbs as Chicago police put more heat on offenders in the city. He knows the migration has already happened in some areas. He believes law enforcement, including the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department and local law enforcement in the suburbs, needs to be prepared proactively. He suspects unincorporated areas with the least resistance, like Country Glen, just northwest of Nickol Knoll Park and just southeast of the Lake Cook Road/Route 53 interchange would be vulnerable as an arrival point for an exodus from the City of Chicago.
