Snow Storm: If it Weren’t President’s Day, Traffic Would Have Been Much Worse

No school, closed banks, closed government offices meant less traffic on the roads. More people hunkered down today and stayed off the roads. Illinois State Police troopers were still very busy; but if today had been a regular work day, the traffic situation would have been much worse.

More crashes and lane blockages seemed to be concentrated in southern Chicagoland. However Des Plaines firefighters responded to a car-Metra train crash at about 4:00 p.m. and West Chicago firefighters responded to a business jet incident at DuPage Airport. The jet slid off a taxiway during preparation for takeoff in white out conditions. Five passengers and two crew members were not injured.

 QUIET AFTER RUSH HOUR … 

Roads across Chicagoland are fairly quiet at 8:20 p.m.

 RED LINE RUSH HOUR … 

But traffic conditions were much worse at rush hour …
