The snow storm affecting Chicagoland appears to be losing power at about 8:45 a.m. with diminishing snow.
As of 8:55 a.m. Saturday, a Winter Storm Warning was still in effect until 6:00 p.m. Stay tune, The Cardinal expects the Winter Storm Warning may be canceled early.
Chicagoland weather radar [LIVE PRECIPITATION TYPE RADAR] shows the end border of precipitation just west of Rockford. Additional radar images near Iowa and Western Illinois show signs of diminishing. If this scenario continues and no lake snow develops, the northwest suburbs may only be getting another 0.25 to 0.5 inch of snow.
At 8:55 a.m. there is only 2.75 inches of new snow on the ground in Arlington Heights. The total for this storm may only be 3.0 inches.
