The latest weather model has storm hitting along a track more west, northwest and north of the heart of Chicagoland. Buffalo Grove, Long Grove, Aurora, and Rockford are included in a Winter Storm Watch as part of major storm system that will cause heavy snow, freezing rain and heavy rain. It is too early to rely on any particular track at this time. The precise location of the rain/snow is uncertain at this time.
The current model forecasts 4.6 inches for Arlington Heights beginning about 4:00 a.m. Sunday morning and continuing all day until about 6:00 p.m. About 5.4 inches is forecast for Cary, Illinois; and about 7.2 inches forecast for Rockford, Illinois.

Freezing rain overnight northwest of Cook County in McHenry County and further northwest.
Freezing rain is possible in Arlington Heights from 6:00 a.m. to about noon on Friday with some precipitation lingering until about 5:00 p.m. Some freezing rain and sleet possible all day on Saturday … then heavy wet snow is forecast to start at about 4:00 a.m. Sunday.
