Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office police and South Metro Fire Rescue Authority responded about noon to a report of a shooting and fire at the Arapahoe High School, 2201 East Dry Creek Road in Centennial. There is an early report that a shooter was found with a Molotov Cocktail — not confirmed, and a news helicopter reporting to Fox News has not seen any smoke. Students are evacuated outside the school, and there does not appear to be a panic at 1:30 p.m. local time.
One student was initially found with a serious gunshot wound, and has been transported to a local hospital. During evacuation, a second student was found with a minor gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital.
The suspect/shooter was found dead of apparent suicide.
More than 2,000 students are enrolled at the high school.
Schools in Littleton Public Schools also known as Arapahoe County School District No. 6 have been placed on lockdown.
Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, where 12 students and a teacher were murdered on APril 20, 1999, is about 6 miles to the west of Arapahoe High School.
