Smoke From A Car Fire in the Vail Ave Garage Fills the Air During Sleigh Rides Downtown, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:00 PM Friday to a car fire in the Vail Avenue parking garage, 22 South Vail Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that a car was burning with fire showing in the second or third floor level of the Vail Avenue parking garage.

An 8 MPH wind was blowing smoke from the east to the west with an acrid smell filling the air. Smoke was the worst near Higland Avenue, Sigwalt Street, and Chestnut Avenue.

While sleigh rides circled downtown Arlington Heights, firefighters lined up fire equipment on Vail Avenue to fight a care fire.

Sleigh rides continued to operate while smoke was in the air during a downtown sleigh ride event. It is unknown if the sleigh rides temporarily stopped operation.

No injuries were reported.
