A terrorist attack in the Russian city of Volgograd has killed at least 14 passengers on a trolley bus. The explosion comes a day after a suicide bombing in the city which killed 17 people and injured scores of others.
Twelve people died at the scene, two people died in the hospital, and 27 people were injured and treated in local hospitals. A total of 41 people survived the blast, including an infant, age 5-7 months, who is in a coma. All of the people injured by the explosion are in serious condition with burns, multiple trauma, and blast-injuries.
Similar to the Volgograd Railway Station bombing, a suicide bomber set off the bomb. Investigators believed the terrorist acts are connected. The trolley bus is used by many people, including students from nearby colleges.
The trolley bus was not equipped with a security camera, according to police who are offering witness protection to anyone who provides information on the offenders connected to the terrorist attack.
