Arlington Heights police responded about 5:14 PM Sunday to a battery and Retail theft at Jewel-Osco, 1860 South Arlington Heights Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that a male subject was detained after attempting to leave the store without paying for products.
Christopher P. Galati, age 53, of the 400 block of West Touhy Des Plaines after attempting to leave the store without paying for merchandise and after pushing a loss prevention agent.
When police arrived a Jewel-Osco loss prevention agent was holding the suspect on the ground.
The suspect was allegedly observed taking an unknown number of cigarette packs and hiding them on his person. He also placed two bottles of 750 ml Grey Goose in a shopping cart and two 12-packs of Corona Beer in his shopping cart. Galati allegedly pushed the cart past the cash register, and the loss control agent asked the subject to return to pay for his items.
