Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) announced today that it has signed a partnership agreement with Cardiac Surgery Associates, S.C. (CSA) to excel the growth of its cardiovascular surgery program. The partnership with CSA, a group of cardiac, thoracic and peripheral vascular surgeons in the western suburbs, will provide NCH with a highly integrated model of care for the treatment of cardiac patients in the Chicagoland region.
“This collaboration represents a significant investment in the future of NCH’s cardiovascular surgical program by increasing our geographical footprint and providing access to a larger cadre of highly skilled cardiovascular surgeons,” said Eric Benink, MD, Chief Medical Officer at NCH. “Most importantly, our work with CSA will offer patients a full range of cutting-edge, integrated services across the spectrum of cardiac care.”
David DeBoer, MD, is the new leader of NCH’s cardiovascular surgical heart program. Dr. DeBoer is a well-respected and highly qualified cardiovascular surgeon. He replaces Ali Shariatzadeh, MD, who retired on November 30, 2013, after more than 20 years as a dedicated cardiovascular surgeon.
“I am pleased to have the opportunity to guide the cardiovascular surgical heart program into its next phase,” said Dr. DeBoer. “My priority will be to align NCH’s cardiology, cardiovascular and vascular surgery programs into a more robust and coordinated cardiovascular service line for patients.”
