Arlington Heights Weather Forecast: Snow Tapering Off About Noon, But Lingering Until Midnight; Colder Sunday

Chicagoland weather radar [LIVE RADAR] showed snow precipitation with the trail edge on a line from west of Dekalb to about Moraine Hill and the Chain O’ Lakes at about 8:00 a.m. Another line is forming by Rockford. At about 7:10 a.m. 2 1/8 inches of snow was on the ground in Arlington Heights, and 3.5 inches on the ground at 11:30 a.m. At 11:30 a.m. there are two bands of snow on radar. First trailing edge is at Elgin. Second trailing edge is at Rockford, and the snow band is increasing in size.

Snow is expected to taper off in the northwest suburbs by noon, but another 0.5 inch is possible from noon to midnight.

Satellite images show the entire Midwest under cloudy conditions. Clouds are expected to linger through the weekend with may be a little sun peeking through.

North winds at about 8-11 MPH with occasional gusts to 16 MPH. Sunday’s forecast has higher winds at about 14-15 MPH from the northwest and with gusts from 16-23 MPH.

Temperatures will continue to drop from 29 degrees Saturday morning down 7 degrees Sunday at 10 a.m. Sunday temperatures are then expected to hold at about6 -8 degrees with a Wind Chill of -3 to -5.
