Satellite images show clear skies over northeast Illinois, but clouds over northwest Illinois, most of Wisconsin, and eastern Iowa. Clear skies are expected to continue until about midnight Saturday/Sunday.

Biggest weather news is that we are headed for our biggest stretch of bitter cold LOWS leading up from overnight Sunday/Monday, Monday/Tuesday, and Tuesday during the day — ALL BELOW ZERO. New Year’s Eve is forecast to bring the lowest temperature at -6 degrees with a wind chill of -24 from about 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then temperatures will rise to bring in New Year’s Day.
