Chicagoland weather radar [LIVE RADAR] shows a thin band of very light precipitation running from Lasalle and Ottawa and running northeast through the south side of Chicago at about 8:45 a.m. The band is heading northeast and departed the Ottawa area by about 9:30 a.m. No precipitation in the northwest suburbs is forecast until Saturday/Sunday about midnight. Total snowfall of about 2.3 inches is expected from midnight Saturday/Sunday through Monday at 5:00 a.m.

Satellite images show that most of Illinois is under clouds. Most of Iowa and central-south Wisconsin is clear. Mostly cloudy conditions are forecast to start clearing out at about 6:00 p.m. tonight. The clouds during the day and the clearing at night bring colder temperatures. We are somewhat saved from even worse bitter cold because of the lack of snow cover.
