Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:50 PM Friday to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train at Baldwin Road in Palatine.. Baldwin Road is located between Palatine and Inverness this evening, authorities said.
The person was struck by outbound train No. 651 on the Union Pacific/Northwest Line.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office was notified that a person was killed in the incident, but no other details are available at this time.
Three outbound Metra passenger trains were stopped by the incident.
Train #662, scheduled to depart Harvard at 8:35 p.m. and arrive Chicago at 10:23 p.m., will be delayed in departure due to late arrival of equipment caused by an earlier pedestrian incident. Estimated time of delay is unknown. Metra will provide updated information as it becomes available.
