As police transferred the suspect from the victim’s vehicle to the police car, someone in the group announced, “You’ll be on YouTube, yeah? Idiot.”
Neighbors stopped a car thief from fleeing by holding onto the doors of the vehicle, despite the offender’s threats. Suspect Matthew Draper was armed with a screw driver and threatened to use it. He also spit at neighbors and the car’s owner, who surrounded Draper.
When Draper was searched by police they found a camera in his pocket. Vehicle owner, Tanya Miles, always kept the camera in her glove box of her vehicle.
Draper, aged 27, has a number of previous convictions including assault, shoplifting and burglary. He was previously jailed for 32 months.
