Vernon Hills police say they found a car matching the description of the white 2008 Saturn Aura belonging to Nick Steward, a Lake Villa man missing for two weeks. Relatives say Steward’s I-Pass shows he went through the Touhy Avenue toll booth on I-294 around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013.
Vernon Hills police and the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office are investigating, and authorities are searching a large wooded area behind a parking lot at 955 Westmoreland Drive, Vernon Hills where the car was discovered. The location is about one-half mile (2500 feet) east of the location of a fatal crash that occurred on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Westmoreland Drive and Route 83, two weeks before Steward was reported missing. No connection has been revealed between the two incidents.
Nick Steward’s car was towed to a police holding area and is being searched for evidence.
Nick Steward was last seen as he left his job in Wood Dale. Anybody with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Lake Villa police at (847) 356-6106.
